Construction season is well under way in Ottawa.  Lots of projects looking to be done before the sesquicentennial next year (Canada’s 150th birthday).  Here you can see the Arts Court expansion project which looks like it’s just about done all the below-grade work.   New walls should be getting built soon!

Arts Court Construction project – May 24 2016

The grass is greening up, the river is ice-free, and I actually spent most of the flight with the window open in a t-shirt!

Absolutely beautiful night to photograph the home opener of the RedBlacks, which they won.

The local naval reserves building is being replaced.  The new HMCS Carleton, while still landlocked, looks a little more like a boat than the building it’s replacing, with a curved ‘hull’ profile, and round porthole style windows along the sides.

Construction is almost complete at the new stadium at Lansdowne, now called TD Place

Work continues on the other structures on the site, but those stands will be full soon.

The Central Experimental Farm is right here in Ottawa.  In this aerial you can see the patches of different crops planted alongside one another that are being researched.

Here’s a shot taken last summer of the Tatlock quarry near Almonte

The last signs of winter are disappearing.  Here is the remains of the ice on Dows Lake.  You can see where the Rideau Canal Skateway was plowed out of the snow, and the ice thickened by flooding when it was cold.
