Duncan in Tiger Moth

Duncan Marshall

A resident of Chelsea since 1987 and a pilot since 1956, Duncan is originally from Edmonton where he obtained a degree in Geography followed by postgraduate degrees in Community and Regional Planning, including aerial photographic interpretation, from the Universities of Toronto and Manitoba. Duncan has undertaken extensive research in archives across Canada, searching for early aerial photographs that help illustrate the Canada of the 1920s and 30s. This initial work helped Marshall Maruska develop a series of photographic inventories that now total more than 20,000 oblique aerial photographs, taken between 1918 and 1945. He is the author of an article entitled The Early Aerial Photography of the Gatineau River Valley published by the Gatineau Valley Historical Society.
